The season opened in June with our Patrons’ Pick winner, The Love List by Norm Foster. In this very funny and thought-provoking comedy, Leon and Bill concoct a list of attributes of the ideal woman - the top ten best qualities in a mate. When this allegedly "Ideal Woman" actually arrives on the scene, the men quickly learn that their list could use a few revisions. The Love List opened Friday June 8, runs through June 22nd. Our Patrons’ Pick race was so close we have decided to present the runner up, Marjorie Prime by Jordan Harrison, as our second play of the season. In this 2015 Pulitzer Prize Finalist, it’s the age of artificial intelligence, and 85-year-old Marjorie —whose memory is fading — has a handsome new companion who’s programmed to feed the story of her life back to her. This fascinating play explores the mysteries of human identity and the limits — if any — of what technology can replace. Marjorie Prime opens Friday June 29, runs through July 14. This summer’s Camp Pendragon & the Family Show is Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr –the classic tale of Belle and an arrogant young prince who is turned into a hideous Beast until he learns to love and be loved in return. Beauty & the Beast Jr opens July 20, runs through July 28. Shows are July 20, 21, 27 and 28 at 7PM, July 22, 24, 25, 26 - 2PM matinees.
In August we present I Hate Hamlet. This comedy, by Paul Rudnick, follows successful television actor Andrew Rally as he struggles with taking on the dream role of Hamlet, dealing with a chaste, Shakespeare loving girlfriend, and playing host to the ghost of John Barrymore, who, clothed as Hamlet, has come back to earth for the sole purpose of convincing Rally to play the part.
