AUDITIONS FOR TWELFTH NIGHT
Pendragon Theatre is inviting children and young adults between the ages of six and eighteen to audition for its upcoming Pendragon Jr., spring production of Shakespeare's raucous comedy, Twelfth Night.
There are twelve principal and upwards of six supporting roles in this uproarious 35 minute adaptation that contains all the laughs, mistaken identities, songs and dances of the original. Characters range from a dashing nobleman, an elegant noblewoman, wiley servants, a priggish butler and a clever jester.
Auditions will be held at Pendragon Theatre on Saturday March 7 from 11AM to 1PM.
To prepare for auditions it is suggested that girls practice their most elegant manner of speech and movement, their sauciest, wisecracking way of speaking and to ask themselves how they would act and speak if they had to disguise themselves as a boy in order to to survive in a strange and dangerous land.. Boys will be called upon to put on their most dashing hero voice, their most pompous know it all manners, their biggest goofball, snack loving party boy behaviors and last but not least, show us just how uncool a dancer they can be. Work on these characteristics at home and we'll have sides for you to read at the auditions. Be big and bold.
Twelfth Night will be performed May 7, 8, 9 and 10. This project is dedicated to celebrating Shakespeare and the fact that even though his plays were written over 400 years ago in a world that seems completely different from ours they are stories that entertain and delight young and old alike today. As they say...no guts guts, no glory.
Directed by Kent Streed.
