Highlights from Honky Tonk Angels, our 2023 Winter Carnival Production!

Ted Swindley (Author): For over twenty-five years, Ted Swindley has directed and/or produced over 200 plays. He is nationally known for creating the hit musical ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE, which opened in New York in June, 1997, while continuing to play throughout the world. Mr. Swindley was named to Esquire magazine’s register of Americans for Outstanding Achievement in Arts and Letters and was featured in Southern Living magazine. He was the recipient of the Los Angeles Dramalogue Award for Outstanding Direction and nominated for the prestigious Los Angeles Critics Award for his work at the Pasadena Playhouse. He has been a member of the prestigious Writers and Directors Unit of New York’s famed Actors Studio.


Beth Glover (Director and Choreographer) has been a theatre professional devoted to the arts for 33 years. Her passion for the arts can be traced back to a southern upbringing that valued storytelling. It’s that history that has her loving directing Honky Tonk Angels.  Acting credits: 6 Broadway National Tours—Wicked Stepmother, Cinderella, Mayor Matilda, All Shook Up; many shows Off-Broadway, Goodspeed Opera House, Papermill Playhouse, Shakespeare Theatre Co. of DC, etc. Favorite roles: Amanda, Glass Menagerie & Blanche, A Streetcar Named Desire, both at Pendragon. Directing credits: 9 to 5 at SUNY Plattsburgh, Bakersfield Mist for ALCA & ASR, Wicked City & Heroes for Depot Theatre and more for Adirondack Stage Rats, co-founded with her wife, Karen Lewis. www.Beth-Glover.com


Beth Buczkowski* (playing Sue Ellen): Honky Tonk Angels is Beth’s 2nd Pendragon Production!  Beth is a member of AEA and of the National Equity Touring Company of Menopause The Musical.  As a Vocalist Beth has headlined at PGA Tour Events in NY, and as opening act for CCM artist Susie McEntire and performed in concert with CCM Artist Steve Green.  She would like to thank Pendragon, Beth Glover and Kimberly Weems for this opportunity!  Love and Gratitude to my Husband Terry, and to God for blessing my life with great challenges and experiences!


Annachristi Cordes (playing Angela) is based in Brooklyn and grew up in Tupper Lake. They are a proud Camp Pendragon alum and earned their bachelor’s in Musical Theatre at SUNY Fredonia in 2020. Favorite roles include Anything Goes (Bonnie), Twelfth Night (Olivia), Beguiled Again (Kim), and Seussical: The Musical (Mayzie la Bird). Thank you to Beth G. for inviting her to participate in HTA, and Beth B. and Laura for being incredible stage partners. Yeehaw!

Laura Farrell (playing Darlene) is incredibly excited to be making her professional debut in Pendragon’s Honky Tonk Angels! Her theatre experience goes as far back as 2010, having worked with many different theatre groups, both at school and in the community. Some of her favorite past roles include Kitty in The Drowsy Chaperone at SUNY Plattsburgh, CB’s Sister in Dog Sees God with College Theatre Association at SUNY Plattsburgh, and Cinderella in Into the Woods with Artistry Community Theatre. She has a BA in Music with a minor in Theatre from SUNY Plattsburgh. When she’s not singing or acting, she enjoys photography, drawing, and making jewelry. Laura would like to extend thanks to her family for their unending support, and to Beth and Karen for thinking of her for this amazing opportunity! “Enjoy the show!”

 

Kimberly Weems (Music Director) is so very happy to be back onstage at Pendragon.  Past credits here include Next to Normal, The Last Five Years, Little Shop of Horrors, Tintypes, The Fantasticks, Sweeney Todd, Quilters, Cabaret, and The Threepenny Opera. Kim is thankful for those in her life who have contributed to a large encyclopedic catalog of country music in her brain.  Mom, Dad, Joe and Mamaw - these songs are for you. Love to Tom and Caroline.  Let's go see more of the world when this show is over.

Bonnie B. Brewer (Lighting Designer) has been working the professional theatre circuit for 36  years now. Jess Kemp (Production Stage Manager): has worked backstage in multiple capacities at The Public Theater, Playwrights Horizons, New York Theatre Workshop, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Huntington Theatre Company, A.R.T., and Shakespeare & Company, among others. Training: BFA Stage & Production Management at Emerson College, USITT Stage Management Mentor Project (St. Louis), Actors Theatre of Louisville Professional Training Company.


Kent Streed (Scenic and Costume Design) has worked on countless productions for Pendragon for over two decades.

Breanna Trombley (Assistant Stage Manager) is thrilled to be working with Pendragon Theater once more. A jack-of-all-trades at heart, their work focuses on tech and design with a concentration in puppetry. Their credits include Overseer (SUNY Potsdam Property Archives), Puppet Master (WILEY AND THE HAIRY MAN), Properties Master (MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, VENUS, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, GOD OF CARNAGE), Set Crew (NATIVE GARDENS) House Manager (CHOREOGRAPHER’S CONCERTS), Mask Designer (VENUS), and Assistant Stage Manager (GOD OF CARNAGE). In their free time they draw and play DnD. A huge thank you goes to their friends and family for their support.
