We are excited to be offering a variety of classes over the course of our fall session. Oct 12t- Nov 16th
Intro To Acting and Improv Grades 5-8th -establishing a physical, vocal, and mental warm up -learning to step outside of your comfort zone -improv games -feeling supported by an ensemble, learning what it is to be part of an ensemble. -story telling through physicality and vocal technique -opening the vessel and getting grounded in your body -Learning to work with a scene partner -Optional presentation at the end of the session
Acting a Song/Monologue Grades 9th-12th - students can bring in their own material or be assigned it,either a song or a monologue or both based of class size! -a low pressure way to build confidence performing solo in front of others while also getting to watch your peers grow -learning to world build on a solo level -personal feedback -developing character physicality -healthy voice and speech practices -learn about how and where to make cuts for an audition. -optional participation in the presentation of pieces
Scene Workshop 18+ -getting to workshop scenes in pairs -either a scene of the pairs choice or can be assigned -learning how to listen and respond by practicing acting is reacting. -world building and knowing your environment working with your partner as a team to create and introduce us into the scene -recognizing beats and shifts - a low pressure way of getting to practice with another person! -coaching these scenes in front of each other so we can learn from our peers as well -an optional 20/ 30 min presentation of scenes at the end of the session
Writing for the Stage 18+ -learning and experimenting with writing your own scenes, musical numbers, solos, or duets -casting fellow class members -experience seeing your written work in real time with chances to edit and workshop your material -Getting live feedback from each other -experiencing different writing styles as well as directing styles from your peers -An opportunity to present your work to the public with an optional presentation at the end of the session
Ella McMillion
Theatre Instructor
Ella is so thrilled to be offering acting classes to the community! Originally from Missoula Montana, she grew up working with Missoula Theatre, Little Red Truck, and Performing Arts Camp (PAC). Ella graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City in 2021 and has been working professionally ever since. Some favorite projects include playing Merida, Flounder, and Elsa on the DIsney Wish--and most recently being in the wonderful ensemble of Violet at Pendragon! Ella is so excited to be working alongside this team to provide an outlet for creativity and connection within the North Country!
